Donor Advised Fund
A donor advised fund may be a good option if you’re interested in setting up a family foundation but would rather not have to deal with the cost and administration. This instrument allows you to take a full deduction at the time of your gift. You then decide which charitable organizations to distribute funds to on your own time.
Charitable IRA Rollover
This instrument allows you to take tax free distributions, that may count toward your required minimum distribution, as a donation to Walking Mountains.
Retained Life Estate
With this instrument, you donate your home to Walking Mountains but continue to live in it for life. You receive an immediate tax deduction and retain the asset for life. Upon your death, Walking Mountains will sell or use your home. You may participate in this decision beforehand. This gift will also reduce your estate taxes significantly.
Charitable Lead Trust
A charitable lead trust is basically the opposite of a charitable remainder trust. You establish a trust that makes payments to Walking Mountains Science Center for a specified term at the end of which the balance will pass to heirs. This instrument will reduce eventual estate and gift taxes and allows you to delay the transfer to heirs.
