Join Walking Mountains Science Center with special guest Carrie Eckenhoff (PT, DPT, OCS) owner of Equilibrium Physical Therapy, as we explore treatment options for both concussion-related dizziness and BPPV-related dizziness and vertigo.  Participants will experience the physical processes involving manual treatments and exercises. There are a number of tests that can be done to determine if your dizziness is related one of these systems, and if there is potential to improve on it through focused therapy.

Dr. Carrie Eckenhoff is the owner of and sole physical therapist at Equilibrium Physical Therapy, based out of the Anahata Yoga and Wellness Center in Minturn, CO. She is a board-certified orthopedic specialist and has been practicing in the Vail Valley for six years. In addition to her board-specialization, Carrie has completed her coursework towards an orthopedic manual therapy fellowship and has learned from some of the leading manual therapists in the field.

Throughout her time in the valley, Carrie has developed a niche in working with individuals experiencing post-concussion symptoms, dizziness, and vertigo.  Carrie studied psychology during her undergraduate education and uses this background to fuel a strong interest in understanding the interplay of the mind, the nervous system, and the body related to these conditions.

Carrie is passionate about helping people achieve their goals, whether that is returning to a specific sport or simply functioning better in daily life. She is dedicated to providing one-on-one care in a calm, focused setting.

Carrie strongly values community and understands the importance of a team mentality. Carrie played soccer competitively from a young age through college at Emory University, and has continued to play recreationally in the Vail Valley. During the winters, Carrie is an adaptive ski instructor for Small Champions, a local program for children with disabilities. She also helps out with Power Punch Parkinson’s, a boxing program that is designed to help individuals with Parkinson’s maintain balance and mobility, founded by local Rick Schwartz.

In her free time, Carrie enjoys outdoor adventures with her dog Charlie, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, yoga and spending time with family and friends.
