Tracks, Signs & Snowshoes

Overview

Walking Mountains Science Center

Join a Walking Mountains naturalist guide for a 2-mile backcountry snowshoe hike through the White River National Forest! Tracks, Signs, & Snowshoes hikes take you to gentle, secluded trails that feature some of the most beautiful forests & winter views Eagle County has to offer. These programs are led at a relaxed pace and focus on interpreting the tracks & signs of wildlife seen along the trail. Learn to identify the snowshoe like tracks of the iconic snowshoe hare, the signs of Colorado’s stealthy Lynx & Mountain Lion, and other members of our winter communities! These hikes are appropriate for all experience & fitness levels and are led on rolling trails (though be prepared to leave the beaten path and follow the trail of an elusive critter, as the opportunity arises!).

Hikes meet at Walking Mountains Science Center in Avon. Snowshoes, poles, hot drinks, and transportation are provided.
