Melissa has a passion for the environment and loves sharing it through the efforts of Walking Mountains. She has lived in Colorado’s Central Rocky Mountains for over 15 years. She holds an A.S. in Forest Technology from Penn State University, Mont Alto campus and a B.S. in Forest Resource Management from University of Montana in Missoula.
By joining Walking Mountains during the folding in of Eagle Valley Alliance of Sustainability; Melissa has been able to continue her work on Zero Waste projects, Sustainable Businesses, and the Community Sustainable Film Series. Previously she worked at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens for 6 years as the organization’s Garden Supervisor. Melissa has also worked as a botanist specializing in Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) and Ozone projects for the US Forest Service. Melissa enjoys hiking, camping, snowboarding and just celebrating nature with her husband, 2 daughters and their chocolate lab Kenai.
