Walking Mountains’ 5th-6th grade summer science camps take a deeper dive into various scientific topics while integrating learning into daily local public trail exploration and hands-on activities.
All Summer Science Camps are age-appropriate and taught by qualified natural science educators that make learning safe and fun. Overnight camps take place at one of the historic 10th Mountain Division Huts!
Extended Care Hours
We will be offering early drop-off (7:30 – 8:30 am) and late pick-up (4:30 – 5:30 pm) for all Avon based day camps for an additional fee ($5 per morning or afternoon extended care). Normal drop-off (8:30-9:00 am) and pick-up (4:00-4:30 pm) hours are still available at no extra cost. There is no afternoon extended care on Fridays, join us for Watermelon Picnic Presentations.
Avon: June 15 – June 19
Study the natural world through the eyes of an artist. Learn the lines of leaves, the textures of trees, and the colors of nature’s canvas as you embark on an exploration practicing detailed drawings, paintings, mixed media, and more to create your own field guide while gaining new knowledge and appreciation for our local flora and fauna.
Avon: June 29 – July 2
*No camp on Friday, July 3rd (4th of July weekend)
Discover the diverse and unique forest ecosystems of Colorado. Learn how silviculturists use special tools like increment borers that help them count tree rings to understand the health of our forests, and participate in fun forest stewardship projects!
