Ellie is a Texas/Michigan native who will be a junior at University of Michigan in the fall, where she studies Environmental Studies, Organizational Studies, and Literary Translation. She gained her love of the outdoors through childhood trips throughout Texas and Oklahoma in her family’s pop-up camper. Despite this, it wasn’t until she spent a month backpacking in the North Cascades that she realized her passion could be shared and passed on through outdoor education. She is most passionate about finding a way to weave natural science and environmental literature together while also navigating language and cultural barriers.
Though a devoted fan of Michigan’s lakes, beaches, and overwhelmingly deciduous trees, she’s excited to spend the summer in Eagle Valley, explore the southern Rockies, teach some kiddos, and maybe learn a thing or two to boot. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, reading, translating short stories, drinking tea, laying in the sun, and extremely recreational bike riding.
