Kaitlyn Merriman

Community Programs Manager

As the Community Programs Manager Kaitlyn oversees programs happening at our Avon location including the volunteer program and early childhood education programs. She helps to supervise and mentor the seasonal Naturalist Interns and is a Certified Interpretive Guide and a Certified Interpretive Guide Trainer. Kaitlyn earned a certificate as an Early Childhood Educator from Colorado Mountain College in 2017 as well as a certificate as a Nature and Place-Based Early Childhood Educator in 2018. She was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and studied Communications at the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduating she worked with the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks as an Education and Outreach specialist. During this time she also interned with Rocky Mountain National Park and Thorne Nature Experience as an environmental educator. In 2013 Kaitlyn moved to New Zealand to backpack and volunteer throughout the country. A year later she moved back to the US and worked as a ski instructor for Vail before starting work with Walking Mountains.

Outside of work Kaitlyn enjoys being outside in any form. Skiing, mountain biking, camping, backpacking, reading in a hammock, etc. You name it, she’ll try it, as long as she can bring her dog. She loves to travel the world and listen to good stories.
