Simbarashe Dupwa

Sustainability Intern

Simbarashe (Simba) Dupwa was born and raised in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. He came to the United States in 2018 to further his studies. Simba holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science attained from Miami University, Ohio (2020) and a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from Midlands State University (Zimbabwe). He specializes in environmental sustainability and waste management research. His graduate research project investigated how some universities and colleges track and measure waste material in the United States. Simba’s research findings helped Miami University to re-work a sustainable waste management system able to quantify the amount of waste the university produces.

Simba is so excited to join the Walking Mountains Science Center this summer to broaden and deepen his knowledge and skills in reducing waste and carbon footprint, conserve clean water, preserve natural resources, and ultimately create an eco-friendly environment. He is also eager to learn more from Walking Mountains Science Center, gaining further experience in sustainability and waste management.

Simba loves to travel, hike and visit natural areas.
