Join us for Climate Action Week, April 21-30!

 

Climate Action Week is an extended week of events to inspire climate action and highlight local climate action partners! Throughout the week, events will be held that correspond with each Climate Action Collaborative (CAC) sector, as well as events highlighting local food systems, our community’s youth, advocating for the environment, community programs, and more!

Join us as we engage the Eagle County community around climate action and help us meet our Climate Action Plan goals of 50% greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction by 2030 and 80% GHG emission reduction by 2050.

Zero Waste Ambassador Training

Join this training to learn the why and how behind waste diversion and recycling in Eagle County and to get the tools and resources to share with your friends and neighbors. Once trained, join us for ongoing workshops and trainings to up your zero waste game!

Drinkering & Tinkering: A Zero Waste Craft Event

Reducing and diverting our waste are some of the easiest things we, as individuals, can do to help our environment. Never has the idea of waste reduction been so fun! Bring a friend, meet new people, and come hangout. This workshop and happy hour explores creative ways to reuse and recycle household items. The April 21st craft will be Wine Bottle Bird Feeders.

EarthKeepers Earth Day Celebration

Children will explore the natural world and have fun with others while developing their sense of place. The April 22nd topic with be Earth Day!

Cost: $5/adult & $5/child

Food, Land and Climate – Speaker Panel and Fair at Colorado Mountain College

Join CMC sustainability students, faculty, and community organizations to learn more about how sustainable foods create more individual well-being and planetary health. Sample foods, network, and reinvigorate your eating habits to benefit yourself, your family, our land and climate.

ECO Transit Fare Free Day: ride free all day!

On your way into CMC for the Earth Day Event, stop by the ECO Transit all-electric bus to learn more about public transportation in Eagle County, the push for a Regional Transportation Authority, purchase a bus pass, and more! In addition, the entire ECO Transit system will be fare-free on April 22, so be sure to take the bus to CMC!

Location: Electric bus and information will be at Colorado Mountain College in conjunction with the Food, Land and Climate – Speaker Panel and Fair event.

Join Vail Valley Mountain Trails Alliance to raise awareness about Spring Seasonal Wildlife Closures!

Many seasonal wildlife closures go into effect on April 15th. As part of Walking Mountain’s Climate Action Week, we want as many Wildlife Trail Ambassadors at closed trailheads on Saturday, April 23rd to help educate our community.

We will be at the trailheads with you saying thanks with snacks, swag, and hot and cold beverages.

Join us for a tour of Rock Bottom Ranch, an educational farm dedicated to teaching people of all ages how to grow healthy, local, and sustainable food using principles of ecology and natural biological cycles.

Community Recycling and Compost Tour

Join us for a FREE guided tour of the Eagle County materials recovery, landfill, and household hazardous waste facilities and the compost facility at Vail Honeywagon! Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycled items after you leave them at the curb or drop them off at a recycling drop-site? Want to find out? Without knowing what happens next, it is hard to truly understand the impact you are making by decreasing your waste sent to the landfill.

Green Building Tour

Learn about green building techniques, energy efficiency upgrades, and the simple changes you can make to reduce your energy consumption while taking a tour of Walking Mountains’ LEED Platinum Certified campus, offices, and homes.

If you’ve been looking to install solar and storage at your home or business, Solarize Eagle County provides a time-limited, community program that will empower you with the knowledge and confidence to have solar installed. Community Pride Highway Clean Up

Join the Walking Mountains team for the Eagle River Watershed Council’s annual Community Pride Highway Cleanup as we pick up litter along a stretch of roadway after the long winter.
