Cold Climate Air Water or Ground Source Heat Pump (heating or cooling)

Residential Air Source Heat Pump

About Heat Pumps:

Heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners for all climates. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to transfer heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. Because they transfer heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can efficiently provide comfortable temperatures for your home year-round.

Rebate Details:

  • Includes (ducted or ductless) air source, ground source, air to water, and split-hydronic systems
    • Ducted Heat Pump HSPF2 must be ≥ 9
    • Ductless Mini Split HSPF2 must be ≥ 10
    • HSPF2=Heating Seasonal Performance Factor 2; higher number means greater efficiency
  • Outside unit must be elevated at least 12 inches off the ground to defrost properly
  • Dual Fuel System Criteria
    • Temperature crossover point must not exceed 5°F, and documented proof of this setting is required; this maximizes both equipment efficiency and carbon reductions
    • Must include invoice line item for supplemental natural gas or propane furnace cost, which will not be included in total project price
  • Recommended: Manual J calculation, to ensure right sizing of equipment; please provide
  • Recommended: completion of the Holy Cross Energy Quality Installation Worksheet (if a member)
