2019 Fright at the Museum | Halloween Harvest
Fright at the Museum is Walking Mountains’ annual family Halloween event! Join us to celebrate community and the season of spookiness while also raising vital support for educational programs that benefit the children, adults and families of Eagle County. Proceeds from the event are used to enhance and expand Walking Mountains’ programming so that even more people can participate and benefit from our unique, hands-on science education in the future.
This is an Actively Green event. Please bring your own reusable water bottles and plan to carpool or bus to the Elk Lot to grab the shuttle to Walking Mountains Science Center!
Make your way through the inflatable corn maze and get lost learning about farming in the Rocky Mountains!
Every family gets to choose a pumpkin, grown on local farms! Take a break from the festivities to get creative and carve your pumpkin.
Get ready to say “oh my gourd!” Help Walking Mountains staff fine tune our pumpkin chucking catapult by launching a variety of objects throughout the day! By the end of the day, we will be able to chuck (and smash) pumpkins together for the finale!
What is compost anyway? See food on various stages of decomposition as it becomes compost, and dig through the final product to find treasures in the dirt!
Meet the critters that our local 4-H participants care for. You’ll get to meet ducks, goats, rabbits, and even a pony and learn about what it takes to raise farm animals.
Try samples of local and seasonal wines and beers for an added fee of $10. Don’t forget your ID!
Ever buy unfamiliar produce at the store because it sounded interesting or was on sale, only to have it go bad in your kitchen because you weren’t sure how to cook it? Walking Mountains, The Community Market, and Austen Farms have teamed up to offer some samples and recipes with fresh local produce to show there’s no need for that freaky food to go to waste!
