Justin Deutsch
Justin Deutsch is originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from Colorado State University in 2022 with a degree in Natural Resources Management and Conservation Biology. After graduation, Justin spent two summers working with fifth graders at CSU’s Mountain Campus and two winters teaching kids how to ski at Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado. His love for the outdoors started early, shaped by family trips to northern Wisconsin, and the shores of Michigan. Justin is a fan of all things sports, grew up playing lacrosse, and has countless great memories cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks with my grandparents. During high school he spent his summers as a day camp counselor, which ignited his passion for working with kids. One of many highlights from Justin’s time at CSU was working at the State Forest Service Tree Nursery as a tree farmer. Currently, his creative outlet is photography — what started as documenting wildlife quickly grew into something much more. He’s recently accumulated a collection of old Nikon film cameras that he has really enjoyed using! He’s thrilled to be joining the team at Walking Mountains, where he’ll have the opportunity to further develop his unique teaching style in the field of environmental education. Justin is passionate about inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards and remains hopeful for the future of our natural world.
