Energy Programs Coordinator

Sam joined Walking Mountains Science Center’s Sustainability Programs team in October 2020. As a certified BPI Building Analyst, they perform home energy assessments and provide energy coaching to local residents and business owners. Sam helps the community save money, improve their health and safety, live more comfortably, and reduce their carbon footprint by facilitating Energy Smart Colorado home energy assessments and assisting with incentives through Walking Mountains Sustainability.

Sam graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a B.S. in Environmental Science & Pollution Control Technology in August 2013. While in school they spent their summers working for the Forest Service, promoting the rehabilitation of forest roads by implementing closures and establishing information boards throughout the Grand Mesa Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest. After graduation they spent over 5 years as an accredited lead verifier in several greenhouse gas carbon offset markets and inventory reporting programs.

Sam’s hometown is Eagle, CO where they moved back to after exploring most of western Colorado. They’re favorite outdoor activities include hiking, spelunking and paddle boarding.
