Riley Gaines was born in Iowa but grew up in Wisconsin. As a child, he enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and camping with his family. In the fall of 2013, he went to a semester-long high school program in Northern Wisconsin called Conserve School. There he was immersed in an outdoor classroom that fostered a deeper appreciation for the natural world. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he received his B.S. in Environmental Education and Interpretation. Most recently he worked as a Field Instructor at Treehaven Field Station, where he instructed lessons on outdoor skills and the local ecology.
When he is not teaching, Riley enjoys expressing himself on a mountain bike, snowboard, or while rock climbing. He is excited to explore his new home in the Rocky Mountains.
