Vail is the premier international mountain resort community. As a leader, the Town of Vail is partnering with Walking Mountains Science Center and the global nonprofit Sustainable Travel International to become a certified sustainable destination under new criteria set forth by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
Creating a sustainable destination includes engaging the Vail community in all three major components of sustainability: community well-being, economic development, and environmental stewardship. Sustainability can be thought of as integrating the “3 Ps” of “People, Profit, and Planet” in order to create a better future.
